The usually solemn statue was spotted wearing a bright red Rudolph Christmas jumper over her baggy button-up coat to mark Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day. The Beatles figure who sits on a bench in Stanley Street was turning shoppers’ heads in the city centre. Organisers from the Save the Children charity say she is one in a long line of characters who have been wearing jumpers over the past few days “to make the world better with a sweater”.
The sculpture of The Beatles’ legendary character was one of eight cast iron and bronze statues across Britain to join more than 700,000 people who took part in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day last Friday. All of the statues were pictured supporting Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, which asks the British public to donate £1 to help raise money.
