HOW JOHN´S TOOTH IS FIGHTING CANCER AT COTTINGHAM DENTIST'S

A staff at Castle Park Dental Care in Cottingham have been fighting mouth cancer using a necklace made with one of the music legend's teeth.
"The patients think it's great," said practice owner Chris Branfield.
"You turn on the TV and it's all doom and gloom and people come to the dentist and have apprehensions about that.

"This is about communicating – showing that dentists are people, too, and if we can help along the way, then all the better."
The tooth has an interesting history.
Lennon came back from the dentist one day and told his housekeeper to get rid of it.
Instead, she gave it to her daughter as a souvenir.
From the housekeeper's family, it passed to Alan McGee, former boss of Oasis's label Creation Records.
Canadian dentist Michael Zuk snapped up the molar when McGee put it up for auction at Southport.
He paid £19,500 for it with a phone bid last autumn.
Mr Zuk, who collects celebrities' teeth and has even written a book about them, decided to have this one made into a DNA necklace.
"It's a fragment of a tooth," Mr Branfield said.
"You can get DNA from teeth.
"In fact, there are some companies in the UK that will cryogenically freeze teeth so in the future when they can cure diseases they have some of your DNA."

NANCY DITCHES THE HIGH HEELS AND STEPS OUT IN COMFORTABLE TRAINERS AS SHE ENJOYS A WALK WITH PAUL

She's normally seen in stylish outfits, but Nancy Shevell opted for some comfortable gear as she and Sir Paul McCartney took in a stroll in New York.
The husband and wife walked arm in arm as they pounded the city's pavements, with the Beatles legend seemingly hanging onto his wife's every word.
And the clever couple also made sure they were wearing the right gear for their long walk

.
Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell were spotted arm in arm as they took in a stroll in New York
The 70-year-old singer and his 51-year-old wife both wore comfortable trainers for their stroll - with Nancy wearing black trousers and a tight pink sports top.
McCartney wrapped up warm in jeans, a hooded top and a jacket as they took in the long walk.
Meanwhile, the Hey Jude star insists Yoko Ono didn't break up The Beatles.

Comfort: The pair opted for some comfy footwear during their stroll

No regrets: The Beatles star also absolved Yoko Ono of any blame for the band's break up in 1970
John Lennon's marriage to Yoko has long been attributed by many fans as the reason the iconic band split in 1970.
However, McCartney insists that is not the case.
In an interview with Sir David Frost, he said: 'I don't think you can blame her for anything. John was definitely going to leave.''

No trainers here : Stylish Nancy is usually seen in high heels
'When Yoko came along, part of her attraction was her avant garde side, her view of things.'
He continued: 'She showed him another way to be, which was very attractive to him. So it was time for John to leave.''
The forthcoming interview on Al Jazeera English will mark 50 years since the band released their first single, Love Me Do.

No blame: Paul said about Yoko: 'I don't think you can blame her for anything. John was definitely going to leave.'

TEACHER RANG BACK MYSTERY NUMBER AND FOUND PAUL ON THE LINE

When Shropshire teacher Charlotte Slim returned a missed call from a number she didn’t recognise the last thing she expected was to find herself speaking to a Beatles legend.

Miss Slim was amazed to find herself having a chat over the phone with Sir Paul McCartney just moments later. But she was so star-struck at the sudden turn of events that she could barely get any words out.
Miss Slim, a Year 9 teacher at Thomas Adams School in Wem, had been contacted by Sir Paul’s management company after her pupils, including Bartek Czaplinsk, wrote to the star asking for donations for a charity raffle.
Her class wrote to a host of celebrities and football clubs hoping to collect prizes for the raffle in aid of children’s charity ChildLine.
Miss Slim said: “I called this number back that I didn’t recognise and it was his management firm.
“They said he wanted to help and I said ‘that’s brilliant’. Then they said he’d just walked into the room and would I like to speak to him. You don’t say no. I don’t think I actually said anything properly. I said ‘hello’, ‘thanks’ and ‘’bye’. I was a bit star-struck.”
Paul sent an autographed CD of RAM, an album first recorded with wife Linda in 1971 and re-released earlier this year. Across the cover he has written ‘Cheers x Sir Paul McCartney’.
Other celebrities who sent prizes include Sir Michael Caine, the Hairy Bikers, Greg Davies and Jessie J, as well as the casts of Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Liverpool FC sent a pair of boots worn by defender Sebastian Coates.
The raffle has been organised as part of a life skills course the 13 and 14-year-olds are doing, which includes a task to raise money for a good cause.
“The children are really excited. Every day they were asking if the post had arrived. It’s good to see people take them seriously,” said Miss Slim. The draw for the raffle will be made on November 9. Sealed bids are being invited for Sir Paul’s gift and two signed photos from Sir Michael Caine.

RECORD SIGNED BY THE BEATLES TO BE AUCTIONED IN WORTHING

Paul Campbell with the recordAuctioneer Paul Campbell with the record
A rare set of Beatles autographs, signed on a record, is sure to please the owner when it goes under the hammer in Worthing for a starting estimate of £15,000.
The autographs were signed on one of the first Gold Label pressings of The Beatles’ debut album, Please, Please Me, during a card game with Freddie and the Dreamers during summer, 1963. The record was used as a coaster during the game.
The band were staying, along with the Freddie and the Dreamers, at the Normandie House Hotel in Paddington, London, and the record was given to Arthur Collins, the owner of the hotel, who was also playing cards with them.
The record is being sold by his son and daughter, Chris Collins and Liz Chambers, who live in Worthing, at Campbells auction house, High Street, on December 11.Liz said: “Late one evening while my father was drinking and playing cards with Freddie and the Dreamers, The Beatles returned to the hotel in the early hours after attending some promotional events. In their possession was the record – one of the first Gold Label pressings of Please, Please Me, which had been given to them.
“All of The Beatles joined the card game and the record was placed in the middle of the table where it was used as a coaster for whisky glasses. As the card game reached a drunken conclusion in the early hours, all of The Beatles signed their signatures and added short messages, as did Freddie of Freddie and the Dreamers, not wanting to be left out, as a thank-you for the hospitality they had been shown at the hotel.”
The Normandie House Hotel had an agreement with music industry executives to safely accommodate pop stars in a “low profile” manner. Consequently, The Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Freddie and the Dreamers and bands of the time were guests at the hotel.
On the album, which came out in March, 1963, John Lennon signed the words Blast for Hide, while George Harrison wrote in brackets G.P.O.
Auctioneer Paul Campbell, said: “We are delighted to have been asked to sell these autographs dating from almost 50 years ago. Not only do they have a great provenance and a wonderful story to accompany them, they are signed on a mono pressing of Please, Please Me, which has the rare gold label – so has a value in its own right.” Paul said the record could sell for £30,000.
